ABOUT US

The University of New Mexico HBCD team is excited to contribute to this novel longitudinal study and learn from our local communities and participants. As one of the few southwestern sites, we have the opportunity to include a significant study population reflective of our heritage and wonderfully unique demographics. Co-PIs Dr. Ludmila Bakhireva and Dr. Larry Leeman thoughtfully lead a group of research scientists in a collaborative effort between the College of Pharmacy's Substance Use Research & Education Center (SURE) and the Mind Research Network (MRN). With our passion for and expertise in neurodevelopment, infant growth, stressor monitoring, and substance use, we are excited to see how these incremental first years of a child's life may positively and profoundly impact future generations. Our research team, clinical partners, and community look forward to engaging our fellow New Mexicans and creating a welcoming environment for all.
