ABOUT US
The HBCD team at the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) site located in Baltimore, MD, really enjoys working on this study and having the opportunity to interact with moms and babies! This site is led by Drs. Heather Volk at JHU, James Pekar at KKI, and Andy Satin at JHH. Our multidisciplinary research team has been involved in studying child/human brain development through the lenses of neuroscience, epidemiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, public health, and mental health for decades. Our diverse and experienced team members have worked on research studies and in clinical settings that have recruited and enrolled populations from a variety of settings and populations throughout Baltimore and the nation, including research focused on pregnancy, families, and infants and young children. Many of our recruitment and enrollment team are parents of young children themselves, who know the unique experiences that families will go through during pregnancy and early life, and are very excited to work on HBCD as they follow participants through these exciting milestones in life. We look forward to welcoming mothers and their babies to the Johns Hopkins/Kennedy Krieger site in downtown East Baltimore for all their visits!
